About Us

Where have we come from?

The Women's Ivybridge Network began in September 2006.  Our founder members were part of a Women's Business Course which ran in the summer of 2006 at the Ivybridge Townhall.  Having completed this basic course in starting up a new business we were approached by the Community Council of Devon asking if we wanted to be part of the WAM (Women and Micro-Enterprise) Project.  We agreed and secured funding to purchase training and services for our members.

In March 2006 to coincide with International Women's Day we organised a very successful Enterprise Fair, again at the Ivybridge Townhall.  We hired the Chamber area and filled it with women show casing their small businesses.  We ran workshops on Reflexology and Assertiveness.  We also had taster sessions of Complementary Therapies. Our small and dedicated committee welcomed around 60 women to the event and fed them with delicious soup and homemade cakes prepared by our members.

We had an excellent write up from our local media to the event and we continued meeting on a monthly basis over the year to share ideas about how to improve our business know how.

We have continued to meet on a monthly basis and have achieved the following to date:

*   Organised our WIN stall for a local fundraising event
*   Increased our IT skills with a workshop in Princetown.
*   Launched our own website with further IT training from Sitesplus
*   Begun an Action Learning programme
*   Accessed Mentoring via WAM

We have achieved alot in our short time together and we were awarded a WAM Star Award for our coordination of these activities.

We are now entering a new and exciting phase setting up our group as a constituted voluntary group.  We have applied for further funding and urge anyone interested to get involved and join us at this important stage in our development.
